He was appointed Consultant Physician in 1991 and has wide experience in General (Internal) Medicine. Consequently he is in an ideal position to provide an holistic general medical review on complex medical patients who do not neatly fall in to a medical speciality, or who have been around several specialities without resolution of their problem. While increasing specialisation in medicine has several advantages, meaning that patients can get state of art medical management of their condition, the art of general overview has largely been lost, to the detriment of patient management.
